{"id":3734,"date":"2018-01-11T18:03:58","date_gmt":"2018-01-11T17:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/?p=3734"},"modified":"2018-06-29T15:34:12","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T14:34:12","slug":"sugars-in-food-efsa-public-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/en\/2018\/01\/11\/sugars-in-food-efsa-public-consultation\/","title":{"rendered":"Sugars in food : EFSA public consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"l-subsection\"><div class=\"l-subsection-h\"><div class=\"l-subsection-hh g-html i-cf\"><strong>EFSA<\/strong> is seeking feedback on<strong> the approach it plans to take for its upcoming assessment of dietary sugars. <\/strong>The aim of the assessment is to establish a<strong> cut-off value for intake of \u201cfree\u201d sugars <\/strong>that is not associated with<strong> adverse health effects.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>EFSA\u2019s Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) has drafted a protocol to define the methods for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>collecting data (i.e. which data to use for the assessment and how to identify and select them);<\/li>\n<li>appraising the relevant evidence; and<\/li>\n<li>analysing and integrating the evidence to draw conclusions that will form the basis of the scientific opinion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interested parties can\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.efsa.europa.eu\/en\/consultations\/call\/180109\" target=\"_blank\">submit comments on the protocol<\/a>\u00a0until 4 March 2018.<\/p>\n<p>EFSA is also holding a technical meeting in Brussels on 13 February to discuss the methodology that will be used in the assessment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.efsa.europa.eu\/en\/events\/event\/180213\" target=\"_blank\">Registration for the event<\/a>\u00a0is now open.<\/p>\n<p>Orchidali can set up scientific and regulatory <a href=\"http:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/state-of-the-art\/\" target=\"_blank\">watches.<\/a>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EFSA is seeking feedback on the approach it plans to take for its upcoming assessment of dietary sugars.
