This synthesis report shows that creating a sustainable food future is still possible and offers a five-course menu of solutions to ensure we can feed nearly 10 billion peolpe by 2050 without increasing emissions, fueling deforestation or exacerbating poverty. Achieving these goals requires filling three great gaps by 2050:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the food gap between the amount of food produced in 2010 and the amount necessary to meet likely demand in 2050,<\/li>\n<li>the land gap between \u00a0global agricultural land area in 2010 and the area required in 2050,<\/li>\n<li>the greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation gap between the annual GHG emissions likely from agriculture and land-use change in 2050,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This report explores a 22-item \u201cmenu for a sustainable food future\u201d. The researchers used a new model to estimate how three scenarios called \u201ccoordinated effort\u201d, \u201chighly ambitious\u201d, and \u201cbreakthrough technologies\u201d could close the three gaps.<\/p>\n<p>To know more, you can consult the synthesis article at this <a href=\"https:\/\/wriorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/s3fs-public\/creating-sustainable-food-future_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>.
