{"id":7236,"date":"2020-09-30T16:45:59","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T15:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/?p=7236"},"modified":"2020-09-30T16:45:59","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T15:45:59","slug":"european-commission-ivory-coast-ghana-agree-sustainable-cocoa-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/en\/2020\/09\/30\/european-commission-ivory-coast-ghana-agree-sustainable-cocoa-production\/","title":{"rendered":"European Commission, Ivory Coast and Ghana agree for more sustainable cocoa production"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"l-subsection\"><div class=\"l-subsection-h\"><div class=\"l-subsection-hh g-html i-cf\"><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">The European Commission launched on September 22, 2020 an initiative to improve sustainability in the cocoa sector.<\/span> <span title=\"\">It brings together representatives of Ivory Coast and Ghana as well as representatives of the European Parliament, EU Member States, cocoa producers and civil society.<\/span> <span title=\"\">Its aim is to formulate concrete recommendations for advancing sustainability throughout the cocoa supply chain through collective action and partnerships.<\/span> <span title=\"\">Thematic groups have been set up and will meet between October 2020 and July 2021 to:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">discuss ways to encourage responsible practices by EU companies involved in cocoa supply chains,<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">feed into other relevant ongoing Commission initiatives,<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">feed into political discussions between the EU and the cocoa producing countries concerned: Ivory Coast and Ghana,<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">guide the European Commission in the design and deployment of projects to support sustainable cocoa production.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">A plenary session is scheduled for autumn 2021 to take stock of the progress made.<\/span> <span title=\"\">A public report will present the recommendations and further action to be taken.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>To know more, you can consult the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/IP_20_1722\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">Orchidali raises awareness of the citizens and employees about healthy and sustainable nutrition<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Commission launched on September 22, 2020 an initiative to improve sustainability in the cocoa sector.
