{"id":8566,"date":"2022-08-17T07:23:17","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T06:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/?p=8566"},"modified":"2022-08-18T08:07:01","modified_gmt":"2022-08-18T07:07:01","slug":"8566","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/en\/2022\/08\/17\/8566\/","title":{"rendered":"The French Council of State gives a reprieve to products based on vegetable proteins using designations from animal products"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"l-subsection\"><div class=\"l-subsection-h\"><div class=\"l-subsection-hh g-html i-cf\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"1\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">The Council of State validated the request of an association against a decree which was to prohibit on October 1st names such as &#8220;steak&#8221; or &#8220;bacon&#8221; for products based on vegetable proteins.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"1\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"4\">The French Council of State intervened Wednesday July 27 against a decree which was to prohibit from October 1 the names like \u201csteak\u201d or \u201clardon\u201d to define the vegetable derivatives of these foods.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"1\" data-number-of-phrases=\"4\">This decree, demanded by several interprofessional meat and livestock associations, was opposed by a request from the organization Protein France, filed on Friday July 22.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"2\" data-number-of-phrases=\"4\">The complainant associations deplored the confusion of consumers and manufacturers, created by the use of the terms &#8220;steak&#8221; and &#8220;bacon&#8221; to define vegetable products.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"3\" data-number-of-phrases=\"4\">The Prot\u00e9ines France association, responsible for defending manufacturers in the vegetable protein sector (Herta, Happyvore, etc.), then considered that the date of application of the requested decree left them too little time to reorganize their activities and their functioning.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"2\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">With the publication of its decree at the end of June, France had become the only country in the European Union to go against this decision.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"1\" data-number-of-phrases=\"2\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">Thus, by suspending this decree long demanded by the interprofessional meat and livestock associations, the administrative jurisdiction is following the European position, which authorizes the use of terms of animal origin, except for milk-based products.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Council of State validated the request of an association against a decree which was to prohibit on October 1st names such as &#8220;steak&#8221; or &#8220;bacon&#8221; for products based on vegetable proteins.<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on get_the_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on get_the_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":2808,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[22,297],"tags":[1438,117,1437,1436],"class_list":["post-8566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-informations-du-consommateur","category-reglementation-2","tag-appellation","tag-etiquetage","tag-produits-animaux","tag-produits-vegetaux"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
