{"id":8584,"date":"2022-09-15T12:44:22","date_gmt":"2022-09-15T11:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/?p=8584"},"modified":"2022-09-21T12:36:32","modified_gmt":"2022-09-21T11:36:32","slug":"launch-of-the-le-french-gut-project-better-understanding-the-french-microbiota","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/science-nutrition.com\/en\/2022\/09\/15\/launch-of-the-le-french-gut-project-better-understanding-the-french-microbiota\/","title":{"rendered":"New participatory science project from INRAE\/MGPS and AP-HP in France: &#8220;Le French Gut&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"l-subsection\"><div class=\"l-subsection-h\"><div class=\"l-subsection-hh g-html i-cf\">\n<p class=\"J0lOec\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">This unprecedented participatory science project, led by MetaGenoPolis\/INRAE and the AP-HP, is part of a global dynamic and opens up promising prospects for the development of innovative health approaches.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">This ambitious project, estimated at \u20ac32 million over 5 years, is part of the One health concept and contributes to one of INRAE 2030&#8217;s strategic objectives of promoting a global approach to health.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">With the help of the French people, a great deal of scientific knowledge will be generated, ultimately enabling us to move towards personalized preventive nutrition. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"J0lOec\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">The French Gut revolves around 3 scientific axes: <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"J0lOec\"><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\"><strong>mapping the gut microbiota<\/strong> of the French people; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"J0lOec\"><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\"><strong>modeling and predicting changes of the intestinal microbiota<\/strong> associated with chronic diseases (diabetes, obesity, cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases), neurodevelopmental disorders (autism, bipolarity&#8230;) and neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson&#8217;s disease); <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"J0lOec\"><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\"><strong>describing changes of the gut microbiota<\/strong> associated with presence and development of the diseases and functional disorders named in the previous point. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">The French Gut calls on the French population to contribute to the mapping of the national intestinal microbiota with the ambition by 2027 to collect 100,000 faecal samples and 3,000 for the first pilot phase launched in September 2022.
