(OH JPA) has been launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP<\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This first Joint Plan on One Health aims to create a framework to integrate systems and capabilities so that we can collectively better prevent, predict, detect and respond to health threats.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This initiative aims to improve the health of humans, animals, plants and the environment, while contributing to sustainable development.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/fact-sheets\/detail\/one-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">One Health<\/a> is an integrated approach that recognizes that the health of people, domestic and wild animals, plants and ecosystems are closely linked and interdependent.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Collaboration across disciplines and sectors can address the complex health challenges facing our society, such as ecosystem degradation, food system failures, infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The quadripartite organization bringing together the 4 entities has developed a One Health action plan to prevent future pandemics and promote sustainable health.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The One Health five-year plan from 2022 to 2026 focuses on supporting and building capacity in six areas (see the action tracks below).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/publications\/i\/item\/9789240059139\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This technical document<\/a> is based on evidence, best practices and existing guidelines.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It covers 6 action tracks that strive to advance One Health at global, regional and national levels:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Action track 1:<\/strong> Enhancing One Health capacities to strengthen health systems,<\/li>\n<li><span aria-owns=\"pdfjs_internal_id_66R\"><strong>Action track 2:<\/strong> Reducing the risks from emerging and re-emerging zoonotic <\/span>epidemics and pandemics,<\/li>\n<li><span aria-owns=\"pdfjs_internal_id_68R\"><strong>Action track 3:<\/strong> Controlling and eliminating endemic zoonotic, neglected <\/span>tropical and vector-borne diseases,<\/li>\n<li><span aria-owns=\"pdfjs_internal_id_70R\"><strong>Action track 4:<\/strong> Strengthening the assessment, management and <\/span>communication of food safety risks,<\/li>\n<li><span aria-owns=\"pdfjs_internal_id_72R\"><strong>Action track 5:<\/strong> Curbing the silent pandemic of antimicrobial resistance, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span aria-owns=\"pdfjs_internal_id_73R\"><strong>Action track 6:<\/strong> Integrating the environment into One Health.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"lRu31\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The plan defines operational objectives, including:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>providing a framework for collective and coordinated action to mainstream the One Health approach at all levels;<\/li>\n<li>providing upstream policy and legislative advice and technical assistance to help set national targets and priorities;<\/li>\n<li>and promoting multinational, multi-sector, multidisciplinary collaboration, learning and exchange of knowledge, solutions and technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It also fosters the values of cooperation and shared responsibility, multisectoral action and partnership, gender equity, and inclusiveness.<\/p>\n<p>To know more, you can consult the <a
