On March 18, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2021/468 amending Annex III of Regulation No 1925/2006 (of December 20, 2006) of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to plant species containing hydroxyanthracene derivatives.
Here are the new points brought to Annex III by this new regulation:
In Part A (list of prohibited substances):
- Aloe-emodin and all preparations in which this substance is present,
- Emodin and all preparations in which this substance is present,
- Preparations from leaves of Aloe species containing hydroxyanthracene derivatives,
- Dantrone and all preparations in which this substance is present.
In Part C (list of substances under Community control):
- Preparations from roots or rhizomes of Rheum palmatum L., of Rheum officinale Baillon and their hybrids containing hydroxyanthracenic derivatives,
- Preparations from leaves or fruits of Cassia senna L. containing hydroxyanthracene derivatives,
- Preparations from the bark of Rhamnus frangula L. or Rhamnus purshiana DC. containing hydroxyanthracene derivatives.
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, that is to say on 7 April 2021 and shall apply in all Member States. No transition period is foreseen.

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, that is to say on 7 April 2021 and shall apply in all Member States. No transition period is foreseen.
