Novel food accepted for Lentinex®

Following the request of the European Commission (regulation 258/97), the EFSA NDA Panel authorized the use of an aqueous extract obtained from the Shiitake mushroom Lentinula edodes. The product contains approximately 98% water. The dry matter (2%) is mainly composed of the novel food ingredient: ?-glucan lentinan (about 1g/L), and glucose, proteins and amino acids.
