As part of the Green Deal for Europe, the European Union has set itself an ambitious target for 2030:
- devote at least 25% of EU agricultural land to organic farming,
- increasing significant organic aquaculture (fish farming).
This action plan will help consumers, farmers, economic operators, national governments and local authorities to achieve this goal of:
- fostering investment and innovation in agriculture sustainable,
- respond to increased consumer interest in organic food,
- stimulate demand for organic food.
The objectives of this consultation are:
- to give all citizens and organizations the opportunity to be informed of the development of the policy;
- collect public opinion on actions to be developed and their possible impacts;
- identify opportunities and challenges for the future of the organic production sector in the EU.
Indeed, the European Commission would like to know the opinion of all stakeholders from the agri-food sector and launched this European public consultation until November 27, 2020.
