21 September 2021: Stakeholder meeting on the EFSA draft scientific opinion on the tolerable upper intake level for dietary sugars

Following a request from the national food competent authorities of five European countries (Denmark, 2 Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens(NDA) was asked to deliver a Scientific Opinion on a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) or safe level of intake for dietary (total/added/free) sugars. The draft scientific opinion from the EFSA is currently available for public consultation from 22 July until 30 September 2021.The EFSA organizes a stakeholder meeting on September 21 Th to discuss this draft.

The objectives of the  meeting are to:

  • explain the scientific principles and rationale behind the draft scientific opinion on dietary sugars,
  • provide clarifications to stakeholders and collect their feedback on the methods and data used in the assessment and the conclusions reached by EFSA’s NDA Panel before finalisation of the scientific opinion.

The meeting is organized online. The EFSA experts and staff will explain the conclusions of the draft opinion and address questions and comments in several Q&A sessions.

Participation is free and open to all interested stakeholders, but registration at this link until 13/09/2021 is compulsory.
