The Italian Ministry of Health, in the Decree published on 26th July 2019, included warnings for supplements containing curcuma preparations in response to a hepatitis outbreak linked to curcumin-based supplements:

“In the event of alterations of liver function, biliary or calculosis of the biliary tract, the use of this product is not recommended”

“if you are taking other pharmaceutical treatments, it is appropriate to seek the advice of a physician”

Food supplements containing extracts and preparations of plants of the genus Curcuma must conform to provisions to this decree no later than 31 december 2019.
