In Europe, it is estimated between 20 and 30% the environmental impact of homes on global warming. This recent study focuses on observing and comparing climate and food changes across 5 European countries (France, Italy, United Kingdom, Finland and Sweden). Nutrition recommendations and changes are similar by country. But according to researchers in this study, strictly following the nutritional recommendations of each country without regard for the environment, would cause an increase in greenhouse gases in each country. However, researchers believe that a diet that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 62-68% while maintaining an adequate nutritional profile is possible. Large disparities between countries exist in the consumption of meat despite nutritional recommendations equivalent from one country to another. Increasing the ratio of plant-based foods would reduce the greenhouse effect of animal production on the ozone layer.
